There is a lesson in there for America's intelligence services. What is is I'm not sure. Although I suspect creating the position of "intelligence czar" will lead to even more mistakes as differing opininions are filtered out. What scares me is that if the intelligence services could construct such a paper tiger out of non-existant Iraqi WMD, are they totally missing something even more dangerous? However, I watched Powell's presentation to the UN Security council, America's case against Saddam, and saw nothing but circumstantial eveidence and inferences - absolutely zero "proof". If I could see that, why couldn't anyone else?
