tlc- Cheney Once Pushed to Lift Iran Sanctions i don't have the time or the ambition to research this but FWIW... there was evidence in links posted here a couple of years ago having to do with the PNAC documents and some energy forecasts and sudies by the James Baker Institute, among other things that revealed a clear goal of these oil and gas boys was to get the sanctions on IRAQ lifted ASAP. (i realize that your post was about IRAN sanctions but this is also relevant). the perfect way to get them lifted (and the fastest) was to invade and depose saddam and then make the plea to the UN to have them lifted. i was amused at how fast this plea was made to the UN (it was almost immediately after the "mission accomplished" show on the carrier - long before saddam was apprehended). i'm sure there are people who could tell you what's going on here much better than i (lurqer would be one if he were still talking). it's not a conspiracy that i'm going to investigate or pursue but it's one that i saw enough public evidence on to believe. -polvo
