Had a discussion with a US lawyer friend who works in civil litigation and property damage cases (he actually worked with Celino & Barnes years ago!). He is certain Pfizer will have to pull Celebrex due to the massive liability they will face if even one person can prove with reasonable certainty that Celebrex caused a cardiac event. It is not just the civil suits that could be a massive problem for Celebrex, but if it could be proven that Pfizer acted negligently by not removing the drug in the face of evidence linking it with cardiac problems, then the CEO and BOD could be held criminally responsible. The risks are just far to high for Pfizer to play in this game too much longer. I then pointed out to him that it's not just about civil and criminal activity (which is bad enough), but Pfizers brand name would be badly sullied for a long long time.

In light of this, is it no doubt that J&J now wants to talk deal again with Dimethaid?
