Gallup Poll: Reading the tea leaves. This is a repost of my private message to redfish on the John Kerry for President thread. I am reposting it here and on the Ann Corrigan's thread because I am banned from posting on ChinuSFO thread. Thanks, redfish, but you are ignoring the important poll numbers. The one's really worth watching are the percentage of support on: Kerry Bush Iraq Post debate 46% 53% Pre debate 50% 46% Terrorism Post debate 39% 56% Pre debate 45% 52% Topugh Enough 40% 53% for Job Look at these figures carefully. The Race will be decided on the Issues of Iraq, Terrorism, and Toughness. In every instance above, Bush increased his % of favorables while Kerry's declined. The economy, while important, is clearly second fiddle. And even here, Bush ties with Kerry in % so no Kerry advantage here. In other words, on those issues on which the race will be decided, Bush's post-debate favorables find him pulling away from Kerry and noticeably so. Gallup tells us a lot. But we have to be able to read the tea leaves.
