There is one wild card you overlook here, the potential for a takeover. The pressure on bigpharma, in general, is behind the current trend towards consolidation. I can't think of anyone looking to merge that wouldn't love MRK's infrastructure, especially those based in Europe or elsehwere. Of course, monopoly laws will prevent many of the more obvious players from biting. It will be an interesting game to watch.
