The neck thrust was odd, but actually, I thought Bush's affect was more pathetic than bizarre, except that to have an intellectually pathetic president is itself bizarre. The reason I think the way he behaves isn't so bizarre is that it's so transparent. I sometimes wonder if some of his support is just a function of pity.
Do you see the Daily Show with John Stewart? He's very funny (it's on the Comedy Channel) and he's smart.
From the article, "... The real question may be why anyone would be so hot on winning an election that gives them the keys to the burning kingdom that Bush leaves behind."
If it weren't for the SC, which will, under Bush, probably end up with Thomas as Chief Justice, and a few other painful issues, I'd really sort of be satisfied for the Republicans to be the ones presiding over what they've wrought. And they will certainly do all they can to sabotage a Democratic president. (No! Really?! They wouldn't do that, would they?!) Some think that if Bush does win the election this time (unlike the last one, when he was appointed), he might well be the last Republican zealot-president for 25 years. |
