If Friedman is right and the car bombs and suicide attacks are by Sunnis then the actions of Sadr, a Shi'a cleric, are irrelevant to the calculus of whether car bombs and suicide attacks continue.

If Friedman is right then I am surprised that car bombs and suicide attacks have been lumped in with Sadr all along.
