Canada is a province of the USA in much the same way. The trade is huge. Defacto, Canada makes its own decisions. In the future, they will peacefully integrate with the main part of North America's mainland. That's inevitable.

<As I understand it, most Taiwan people like their current status which is composed of
1. Taiwan continues to be a province of China.
2. Defacto, they make their own decisions.
In the future they will, step by step, peacefully integrate with the mainland. That's inevitable. I think Bubba Fred's 10 year period will turn out to be an underestimate. There is a big gap to fill, step by step.

It's hilarious reading the justifications for why Big is Great and all should fall before BIG TOUGH BULLIES. Taiwan should just be subsumed by China according to the bigger is better rule. Japan was once part of China too - that's why the language is the same in the kanji aspect. And all of North America to which which Chinese explorers went 10,000 years ago when spreading up the coastline and over the frozen Bering Straits. New Zealand should be part of Australia and both should revert to Britain and so should the USA and Canada and so should China and India. But wait, we can rewind the clock further and unwind DNA and send the white part back to Britain and ... no, it all gets to difficult.

Time has rolled on and Taiwan is not part of China. Neither is Japan part of China. Nor is Taiwan part of Japan. Nor is NZ part of Britain. Nor is NZ part of Australia. Nor are the USA or Canada part of Britain. Nor is Ireland part of Britain. Nor is Britain part of Rome.

Living in the past is useless. Taiwan isn't part of China in a political and military sense.

People like Yiwu are exactly the reason that Taiwanese don't want to be bossed around by people like her. What a nightmare that would be.
