Bush spends $300B/year on war because 3,000 people were killed, meanwhile he's more than happy to let this country's supply of flu vaccine dwindle to half due to a Republican lack of focus on health care. Since we do not have enough flu vaccine for people in nursing homes, this will probably result in the deaths of thousands of people. About 35,000 to 76,000 people are killed annually from the flu. Someone is spending money in the wrong direction, if the metric of measurement is truly "saving lives." I think even you would agree we need to adjust the budget on how much money goes where, if the metric is saving lives, specifically $300M/year to do this, which is miniscule compared to the whopping war budget of $300B/year.
