Jeff,

I like your method of estimating. It seems like .51/share is in the ballpark
of other estimates I've seen for Q1 1998 (.47-.53). This quarter is normally
slack in the computer business but SUNW has good momentum going forward. I
can sense strong support above 45. If the market rallies after labor day, it
should drift up to 60 (21x FY '98 estimates). After that, I don't really
know.

The Java announcements are beginning to bear fruit. To a certain
extent, I believe SUNW will profit at the expense of MSFT: if there
is a definite shift of market sentiment toward SUNW it will be because
there is a shift AWAY from MSFT. That sentiment will be driven
by the perception of SUNW's success with Java and its ability to
corral the Windows world. Therefore, I am tracking both companies
closely.

I would be interested to know if you thought that licensing fees could
be expected to appear in a "Accounts Receivable, Net" listing?

cheers,

cherylw
