With forrestry you are certainly close to nature which can inspire a lot of introspection and thought.

All I can remember about trees and math was telling the age of a tree by the no.of rings of growth----sure we had a formula for this without cutting the tree down.

Because of my background I use both the left and right brain---mathematics, stockmarket, music, poetry have one similarity----they have patterns----rhythms and detail. Music was my first love----but couldn't afford to major in music so math was the second choice and the practical one.

Thanks for the compliments on the poem----I actually like it very much. Obviously, I drew upon my music background to write the poem-----playing with the words.

I may have put one about the Cicadas on the Cicada site last spring. I found that cicadas had first an "e" pitch and then as they matured----went to "g"----woods behind my house so I was able to copy the sounds on the piano. Fascinating.
