I don't think that's why the election is so tense.

It is not something "positive" they want to do (social programs, etc.), but something negative they want to stop.

Democrats are afraid of Bush, more than any other President. They fear he is controlled by someone and they don't know who - a hidden enemy. They are afraid Bush, with a clear mandate and no relection considerations, will throw away the Constitution, get rid of individual rights in the name of homeland security and essentially declare a kingdom.

The centrifuge of politics has spun opinions to the extremes.

It's ugly out here.
