Learn some history. The entire Middle East and Africa were "created" in the 20th century.

And you don't know about what the hell you're talking. Just because you were born in the 20th century doesn't mean everything started then.

Yeah, OK, so a genie didn't create the Middle East during Teddy Roosevelt's presidency!

What I meant was that the current country borders of the Middle East and Africa were drawn up in the 20th century.

Some were, some weren't.........borders on all the continents were fluid from the 17th century right up to the 20th century. That doesn't change the fact that Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran etc did exist albeit with different boundaries in some case. My point about Iraq is that the Brit. drawing of its boundaries in the 1920's paid little attention to ethic differences and boundaries that existed previously.

Your comment (supporting your idea that Iraqis have no sense of nationalism) was

Was what? There is no secret that there are three distinct ethnic/religious groups in Iraq each with their own identity. About what do you think the fighting in Fallujah is? The Sunnis don't want to be ruled by the Shia. Why do you think the Shia maintain such close relations with the Shia of Iran? Its no secret that the Iraqi Shia have talked about joining Iran. And now the Sunnis are started to behead and execute the Kurds. What's that all about?

The original boundaries of Iraq are not the current boundaries. Those were artificially created by the Brits. in 1920.

If you believe Iraqis have no sense of nationalism just because the Brits created the current borders in the 1920's, then you've gotta believe that no Middle Eastern country has a sense of nationalism for a similar reason, and you'd be wrong.

That's my point!

We will have to agree to disagree.
