Nah. Just suck it up. I go into DC all the time, even take the metro. I go with my husband, I take my kids, my mom. We have a good time.

As for non-DC, non-New York military targets, I've thought about this a lot. There are many, many potential targets all over the country. And if there was a real war, or a coordinated attack on soft and hard targets all over the country all at the same time, you might need to worry about your personal target, the one in your neighborhood.

Your bridge, your ferry, your dam, your airport, your tall building, are legitimate objects of worry in such cases.

Are these guys capable of such an attack? Well, maybe. It would be a completely new way of doing things for them. It would NOT be consistent with what they've done in the past. Not ever. Not even their military seem capable of such coordination (see, e.g., Iraq invasion of Kuwait, Iran-Iraq war, various attacks on Israel over the years.)

I think they just have a different mind set. But I could be wrong.

At any rate, I don't think you need to worry about your ferries. JMHO.
