"No FEC problem there."

I'm not a lawyer (& especially have no expertiese in the complicated subject of federal election law) so I can't say wheither this is illegal, or not.

I suspect you can't either.

But I DO KNOW that McCain-Feingold put some very specific restrictions on this type of 'free advertizing', especially close to the elections.

PS --- I've got no problem with any network showing anything they want, generally. (I'd prefer that my news outlets at least make an attempt at 'finding the truth'... but that's a more general concern.)

What does concern me is that --- less then 30 days before an election (see McCain-Feingold rules again) --- they could FORCE their so-called 'affiliates' to preempt their primetime programming, GIVE UP ALL ADVERTISING (amazing!), and run something like this without striving for balance.

Without advertising, mandating that everyone run it, and right before an election makes this POLITICAL ADVERTIZING, NOT 'ENTERTAINMENT'.

(I wrote some Sinclair affiliates in my area and suggested that they run this back-to-back with some other 'documentary' taking a contrasting point of view --- like Going Upriver or even F9/11 but haven't heard a word from them yet.)

I DO expect the FEC will weigh in....
