Winning the election means putting the war on hold
Bush is fond of saying that Kerry changes his positions based on political winds...and once again outs himself to be the flaming hypocrite he is.

The LA Times is reporting that the Bush Administration/Campaign is putting major assaults in Iraq on hold until after the election:

Although American commanders in Iraq have been buoyed by recent successes in insurgent-held towns such as Samarra and Tall Afar, administration and Pentagon officials say they will not try to retake cities such as Fallouja and Ramadi — where the insurgents' grip is strongest and U.S. military casualties could be the highest — until after Americans vote in what is likely to be an extremely close election.

"When this election's over, you'll see us move very vigorously," said one senior administration official involved in strategic planning, speaking on condition of anonymity.

"Once you're past the election, it changes the political ramifications" of a large-scale offensive, the official said. "We're not on hold right now. We're just not as aggressive."

So we have to wait until the election is over in order to take more military actions...but we're not on hold? Just how far out of touch with reality does one have to be to make that statement? What else would you call it?

This entire adventure has been based on a long series of political rhetoric. From the selling of it to the vague explanations, it's been one large marketing scheme. Each major decision has been made based on the political winds...from bailing out of Fallujah to refusing to engage in major assaults.

Bush and his people don't run this war or this nation based on what's best for the people involved. They run them based on what's most politically expedient at the time. This short sighted and Machiavellian approach to governance puts us in the unhappy position of having a Vietnamesque war, a massive national debt, a very tenuous homeland security and a teetering economy.

The Bush Disaster Train is chugging along.
