I should have clarified that the position that "voting to keep abortion legal is promoting abortion" is one taken by the Vatican. No doubt if you asked nominally Catholic pro-abortion politicians such as John Kerry, Teddy Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi, they'd disagree with the Vatican. As for "imposing morality," we do this all the time. Why else make it illegal to have sex with minors, or members of your immediate family? Why else have a minimum wage?
