Former Volo COO Mark Richards Joins eLEC Tuesday October 12, 1:35 pm ET
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 12, 2004--eLEC Communications Corp. (OTCBB:ELEC - News) today announced that Mark Richards has joined eLEC as the President of Vox Communications Corp., eLEC's Voice over Internet Protocol ("VoIP") subsidiary. Mr. Richards comes to eLEC from Volo Communications, Inc. where he served as the Chief Operating Officer. eLEC's CEO, Paul Riss, stated, "Mark is the perfect fit for a UNE-P carrier that is transitioning to VoIP. In addition to his past experience running a UNE-P carrier, more recently, he has been the COO of Volo Communications, one of the largest privately held VoIP carriers. The fact that Mark has been engaged in all aspects of VoIP on a daily basis is a tremendous boost to the development and roll-out of our VoIP products. We are very pleased that a person with the know-how and success that Mark possesses recognizes eLEC as an attractive VoIP platform."
"I have been following eLEC for several years, and I am very pleased with the VoIP progress that it has made to date," noted Richards. "It is currently marketing, servicing and billing VoIP via a wholesaler, while developing its own technology. eLEC is already making SIP to SIP phone calls and has successfully tested VoIP calls on its own platform that are being terminated on the PSTN. Since eLEC has a strategy of developing its own VoIP network and wholesaling the networks of several other carriers, I plan to introduce least cost routing of calls and envision the day when eLEC is no longer dependent on one dominant carrier, Verizon, to supply service to its customers. I believe there is an incredible opportunity here, as eLEC has tremendous network flexibility because it is not weighted down by circuit-switched equipment. I also believe we will be able to demonstrate stability and scalability with further development effort and will happily lead that technology initiative."
