I don't advocate more orthodoxy in the church. My solution is to get abortion out of the national arena, defederalize it.

Then, if you want to live in a state where abortion is legal, or illegal, then work to change the laws of your state, or move.

I think the church heirarchy is taking a big gamble if they openly force Kerry to recant or refuse him communion, but it's within the legal options of the church. Canon law, that is.
