I will try to be brief...I found that post illuminating.

You are a Catholic who does not practise Catholicism and you do not adhere to the orders of Catholic leaders, but you still want to be a Catholic with no penalty.

The line military members must follow is not so flaky. They must follow legal orders, even orders they disagree with for religious, moral, personal, or any other reason, or go to jail.

You can be a Catholic who refuses orders and avoid penalties here. Kerry and Kennedy have already proven that.

That option is not open to soldiers on duty.

I don't believe soldiers who leave the military at the end of their obligation, because of Kerry, will become less of a patriot. Thery will still be willing to fight for America...but they will look for adult leadership.
