Iraqi energy minister Aiham Al Samarrai has given an interview to the WELT. He mentioned two examples of German companies' involvement:
- Siemens powergeneration.siemens.com has been hired as a subcontractor of Halliburton to build two power stations with 160 MW each.
- Elbe Maschinenbau elbe-aggregate.de has received an order for two power stations. The first one with 550 MW will be installed by the end of the year.
Iraq is planning to increase its power output five times, from 5,300 MW currently to 25,000 MW within five years.
