Well said, Elroy. I might add that before 9/11, countries like France, Germany, and Russia were pushing to get sanctions against Saddam lifted because of the terrible weight on the Iraqi citizenry.

However, I don't see how you can fault Bush for removing Saddam AND fault the U.N. for failing to do so. Are you talking about Bush's inability to reconcile the means with the end?
