The panacea of all despairing is religion. I watched a documentary on a prison ANGOLA which is the worse prison in our prison system. Lifers..and death row inmates. Predominately black inmates too. A lot arrested in their teens and only a public defender who evidently did not do a good job as one black had learned to read and gathered his trial evidence up to present to the parole board. He was in for aggravated rape. A LIFE SENTENCE. The woman who identified him said, all blacks look alike..and then he was the only one in the line up handcuffed... ANYWAY the parole board turned him down. AND GUESS WHERE MOST OF THE INMATES are.. Born again Christians... This is all they have left.
It's the only thing that keeps them from going insane or committing suicide...
Wish I had my life to live over as a lawyer and doing pro bono work. No one gives a damn about these inmates.
