Scott Stevens caling this a developing nor'easter:

"Big week weather wise in store for us all… Northern California sits underneath an impressive and strengthening high with the jet stream being driven northwards towards the pole… in about 8 days time, forming a cold vortex over central Canada. The event, at better than three standard deviations from normal, is forming on the High Plains today. This first storm will be driven to the Deep South off the strength of the northern California ridge, which will then collapse… igniting violent weather that will be frequent from east Texas/Louisiana on late Thursday… then through the rest of the Southeast/Florida Friday. A fresh infusion of energy and cold air from the arctic late Friday will drive the developing nor’easter over the inland Mid Atlantic then rapidly intensifying north bound into northern Ontario by late Saturday. This storm grows so deep that heavy, heavy lake effect snows will result by Saturday afternoon. A healthy portion of the energy with this storm will be rolled back west bound in the polar easterlies along the arctic circle then residing from British Columbia and northern Hudson Bay by Monday/Tuesday… and then may be used again. There will be a large heating energy demand, for October, with this storm. The cold looks like it will then settle into the West later next week.
