Our duty......all patriots.....is to their county.....we don't need any lessons on patriotism.

This exercise has been quite a lesson in practical patriotism for me. I am obviously way out of sync. I have learned here that I don't have any duty to defend my country and its foundations unless I approve of the current president and that even that minor obligation is subordinate to pushing myself and my family to the head of the escape route.

I must say that I am disillusioned. The picture of our "patriots" whining about Kerry as the Islamicists come ashore was one I couldn't have imagined. As you know, the folks I hang with in 3D are cosmopolitan types. For exposure to flag-wavers, I come here. I always assumed that the waving was the tip of a sizeable patriotic iceberg and I am shocked to find it's all flag and no ice. Boy, did I drink the civics Kool-Ade. What a sap!
