Pierre, You have to stop spreading such wild rumors:

You state "PS, all I hear from good sources is that Imation is in a complete state of disarray, and will only add to PRST's PEARLsetter woes at this time."

Prior to posting such nonsense again, may I suggest you make a simple call to the companies you affect with your detrimental remarks and verify your "sources"....if any?

I spent considerable time speaking to Imation product people, Joe Drier and Jeff Bender and repeated your claims of "disarray" .....both laughed and stated that information is totaly false. They have been working behind the scene to produce a product that beats the Kodak Approval system and is exactly what the printers want and need.

Here are the facts....

Imation is intending to "make a big splash" at Print-97.

There will be a very exciting joint announcement at Print-97 that the Presstek/Imation Matchprint proofer will be available for production in September. They state that they are right on schedule and the actual target date will be announced at the show. As we know, they have converted the 447 laminator to run the laser Matchprint and they claim the industry reaction has been terrific! There is huge interest in the Presstek PEARLhdp system. The sales expectations are very high and they state that the printer interest level will become quite apparent at Print 97, where they expect to be held up as one of the primary highlights of the show.

They report that the Presstek/Imation Proofing system will be shown with 2 and 4 page systems at the following booths at Print....Presstek, Pittman, Imation, and Sakurai. They also state that their purchase of Alunminus which provides the software for the proofer is a huge plus for this product. This allows them to produce additional automation, special enhancements and other additions to the system that provides a product far superior to the Kodak Approval proof system at only a fraction of the price.

Pierre, based on this above information, your claim of Presstek "PEARLsetter woes" is all your "short wishful thinking".

I expect the sales of the PEARLsetters sold as a proofer and platesetter combination, to be a "major contributor" to future Presstek revenue as there is to be an expected strong favorable reaction to the product at the Print 97 show with many expected sales. Again, an example of leading Presstek technology being accepted by the industry as another "leading edge" inovation for the industry.
