What did you think of the debate? Bush made a mistake, imo, so blatantly appealing to his base- who else are his base going to vote for? They are stuck with him- and would defend him even if he blew up Israel by mistake. He should have been going after the independents- :-) but luckily I don't think he did- and Kerry did. Of course Kerry won the debate if you judged it on rhetoric- but in terms of the gut impact on the undecided voter- which has nothing to do with silly things like staying on topic (minimum wage? NCLB Jobs going overseas? NCLB- is there anything Bush things his underfunded NCLB won't fix- I have to say he made me ROFL a couple of times with that)- Kerry did a great job promising the things that really matter to the country that isn't regligiously (and I do mean religiously) committed to Bush. Roe v Wade- most people want that to stay- Bush couldn't even answer (but for once he did NOT bring up NCLB- will wonders never cease?). Social security- Kerry was strong on that- as he had to be- those seniors are a scary block of voters. Kerry was much better on jobs- and had something more to say about them than...NCLB and small business is super!!! If Bush isn't desperate he should be.

I loved how Bush disavowed his own words about Osama. I hope Kerry puts Bush speaking his words, with his denial in the debate, in a TV add. That would be splendid.
