Vaccine Shortage Immorality
In a shortage, high prices are the signal to producers to ramp up production, ease the shortage, and ultimately lower prices. Yet here we have Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention saying about the flu vaccine shortage "Shame on the people who are price-gouging." foxnews.com

This is immoral. There are market mechanisms working here, and the government volunteered to interfere with this market. In my view, they bear the majority of the responsibility for the shortage.

I think Dr. Gerberding should resign after making such a statement. Discouraging the price signalling mechanism from working by using inflammatory language from a bully pulpit gives birth to future public health crises.
