I cannot fault the political leadership relying on the professionals at all......

That's the core of the problem. The political leadership did not rely on the professionals.

Instead of relying on the professional opinions of the CIA and DIA and DOE they setup their own group, the Office of Special Plans, staffed it with political hacks to deliver only conclusions supportive of their single minded desire to go to war with Saddam.

You may continue to gloss over the ever building clear pattern of political manipulation, but eventually the tipping point will be reached - someone will have second thoughts or fear a subpoena, or other insiders will find the bravery required, and the facts will finally leap out in front of the public.

I'm sure you can sense that day is coming; its only a matter of time. Will it happen before November 2...

Once all your arguments for "just war" fall apart, I wonder what you'll have to say...

Will you join Keith in suggesting "all oil is ours", I wonder?
