Quote 27 Aug: Down HK$.06; HK$1.30 (US$.1678) Ken- Faith has been
shaken, no question. From what I gather, sales were roughly the
same as similar period 1996. The problem was an unforeseen write-
down associated with restructuring of the US division, including
important management changes and write-off of non-germane ventures.
On the positive side, that charge is behind us. Also, it seems that
sales of "Nano Pals" were barely reflected in the 1997 first half
results. The line has been a sell-out. I presume that we could see
a new generation Nano come Christmas 1997. Bandai is also
working on new varieties of Tamagotchi of greater sophistication.
The reports from retailers is that the TMNT line has been well received.
The new TMNT TV show is being advertised on Fox network and
the show itself debuts in early September with the new season.
Later, in September, the popular "MDK" game video is introduced
for the Sony PlayStation platform which should greatly increase
its exposure.

I am as frustrated by what has transpired as anyone. However, I
am holding on. It only takes takes one hit toy to launch the stock
into the blue yonder. We seem to have a pretty good line-up going
into the crucial Christmas period. Other projects like "Captain
Kangaro" and "Turok" would seem to offer great promise. With
crisis comes opportunity, as the Chinese are wont to observe.
Thus far, we have not seen huge turnover in the stock issue
suggestive of wholesale bail out. Rather, it would appear that
the apprehensive small investor has seen fit to sell. Volume
27 August- 1.74 million.
