<I didn't expect these statements to be controversial> They might not be controversial to a person who is primarily ideological in their approach to issues. You ascribe a label to people that suggests that there is an ideology out there promoting partial birth abortion and higher taxes as a matter of principle -- who are these people to whom you refer? They are fictions used to justify an ideology that promotes lower taxes no matter what the consequences, and that likes to see itself as the champion of the unborn. These issues become the touchstone of faith for some people and all truth and wisdom on issues be damned so long as a politician will continue to promise lower taxes and a supreme court that will strip people of their rights in a way that pleases you.
