Have no rspect for those who lie and libel war heros O'Neill's been down this path before. In 1971, that paragon of honor, Richard Nixon, recruited O'Neill to attack Kerry who was an anti-war activist. Chuck Colson--who would later serve jail time for his Watergate crimes--orchestrated the smear campaign against Kerry with O'Neill as his pointman. In 1993, Colson sent a letter of apology to Kerry for his behavior at this time. He told a reporter for the Boston Globe, "I apologized for having tried to undermine him when he was head of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War. I think there were some stories that Nixon and I were trying to find ways to discredit him, and I am sorry for past feelings resulting from anything I have done."
