Dennis: Thanks for bringing to the board this history of the various gas pipelines currently in the planning stage.

The Mackenzie route appears to be stalemated by a First Nation group that wants Native land claims settled by Ottawa before they will allow this line to proceed.

As I believe you reported recently from the Fairbanks News-Miner, the Alaska route has been put back on the front burner by late action by the Congress. ConocoPhillips was holding out for minimun guarantees but Exxon Mobile and BP don't feel them necessary. Nor do Senators Murkowski, Stevens and Representative Young. They do not envision gas prices getting so low in the future that well-head guarantees would be necessary. Can't envision ConcoPhillips not grabbing the brass Ring.

Add Schnitzer Steel (SCHN), a Portland scrap steel processor, to your list of companies that could prosper from a new pipeline.

Regards,

Rich
