Oh get a grip Lindy, the religious cranks of the "Freedom on the march" societies are similarly religiously repressive.

<Comment: This is a logical step for the Wahhabis to take, part of their relentless pressure bordering on coercion to push the foreign residents of Saudi Arabia (for that's who the non-Muslims are, there being no such thing as a non-Muslim Saudi) to convert to Islam. (October 11 2004)>

Open a shop in "free" New Zealand on a Good Friday and it's the slammer. Which begs the question as to what the heck is good about Good Friday if one is in the slammer. Hmm, I might have it wrong and it's sacred Easter Monday when JC did a disappearing act [he probably didn't want the Romans to have another go at him after the first effort].

Of course the NZ government will also shoot you if you resist orders to close and refuse to pay a fine and refuse to go to prison and offer resistance to the religious oppression.

Of course the superstitious Islamic cranks do the same as the spook-ridden wacos of their Christian brethren. That's what religious cranks do. They want the power, the money, the girls and to order other people around.

Just be grateful they aren't like the Aztecs who really showed everyone who was boss and what would happen on the sacrificial altar if one took their eye.

There used to even be a requirement to swear to tell the truth on the bible in court in the "freedom"-loving countries. Which was hilarious because the non-religious were forced to lie by that very act, and presumably therefore be guilty of perjury as they were falsely giving the court to understand that they held any affiliation whatsoever with such nutty superstitious mania.

Now there are "affirmations" allowed since the whole process became untenable as the number of credulous and superstitious and cowed reduced.

I'm sure religious oppression is much greater in Saudi Arabia than New Zealand, but there is still enough of it here. Maoris are inventing more because it gives them leverage to power. Dumb Pakeha take their cant about Taniwha's and spirits and stuff seriously [lest they be considered culturally insensitive and anti-Maori and careless of the "Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi".

Mad as Hatters!

Mqurice

PS: Both Bush and Kerry burble on with religious cant and even do a bit of bible bashing to bring the religious cranks in on their side. Meanwhile, on with the Crusades!
