Is an "inverted hammer" good or bad for gold?

Does it mean that the wielder of the hammer will whack himself in the head with it?
Does it mean that the wielder will use the sharp end of the hammer to chip away at the crust on a shiny new brick of gold?

What makes the hammer inverted?

TIA,
S&P
