I like rubin alot. Kerry would have done alot better if he followed rubins views and not proposed giant new spending programs while pledging tax cuts for the middle class(or at least no tax inc)all to be funded by taxing the so-called rich who earn over 200K. I say so-called because the bulk of taxpayers who earn over 200k are between 200k and 300k and where i live that does not make one rich by a long shot. Also subchapter S corps file as individuals and 41% tax rates will hurt those who do most of the new hiring in this country. Also start up the 100% dividend tax hurts seniors and distorts the captital markets. And raise cap gains tax is more of the same class warfare bs. Every year you pay taxes on the cap gains that your mutual funds distribute. You dont want 41% on lt cap gains either.
Thats not me talking--Rubin would agree with much of that in private. Kerry may hire rubin and actually be a better economic pres than bush, but he is running on a totally opposite tack. So i should vote for him in spite of what he says quite clearly about spending and taxes? Should i vote for a guy who attacked greenspan as a partisan who with rubin was architect of the clinton good times? Actually AG isnt my favorite but the american people recognize kerry as the most crass pol in years. And thats because he panders to his left wing often socialist soak the rich, spend spend spend, constituencey . mike
