Thanks for the personal testimonial on your system, John. You were pretty close with your sun-hour estimate. I'm supposed to get an average of 4.6 hours per day. Also, you are right about the perception that panels have in the general public's eye. It seems irrational. Wouldn't it be great if America had 20-30% of its grid powered with private and corporate renewable energy? According to some report I read, a one hundred square mile solar array in the southwest United States would supply enough power for the entire country.
In New Jersey, Sharp gets the rebate first, when the application is approved, then I pay the difference to the installer. As to funds, they are still available as far as I know, for the contract is written with that assumed, but I will check it out.
Some questions: What direction are your panels oriented? At what angle from horizontal are they laying? Do you have any shade-producing obstructions and how long during the day do they affect your array? Also, it sounds like you have battery backup, true? What do you use for that?
Thanks.
