geode, now you are venturing into an area even the courts don't agree on, so I am positive, your version of understanding is no better than mine.

Bush claims (although he doesn't understand what he's saying) that he's a STRICT CONSTRUCTIONIST. That would mean a 'well regulated militia.' That would not be YOU in your home. Therefore, he would be AGAINST THE IDEA THAT YOU HAVE A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO YOUR OWN PERSONAL FIREARM.

Bush and Ashcroft are on record saying that gun ownership is a personal Right. You really need to research this to intelligently talk about it.

The Brady Campaign used to be Handgun COntrol Inc. A stated objective of that organization was to outlaw possession of firearms by civilians. Crap by any other name, still stinks.

Further, if you would bother to research the BATFE site, you will see the number of "assault weapons" used in crimes before the ban was almost nil. Like zero. So, why ban them?
