Wayne, Winter weather forecast:
Turn to colder trends, where cold waves begin to outdo warmer than normal periods, is starting now, (late Oct) Novemember looking to be colder than normal (-1 to -3), December normal to warmer first week, then colder than normal through holidays, January has a warming trend for (up to) 10 days early part of month then into the deep freeze (-3 to -6) for four to six weeks.
After that the weather begins to break toward more normal temperatures (I don't do spring breaks well, so will leave it off this year). Sorry snow lovers, can't get a read on snowfall amounts, though early snows likely and with colder temperatures likely snow amounts will be greater than normal. There is, however, a chance of a dry spell with the cold that I cannot rule out, so the snow forecast is not high confidence.
All temperatures noted are (+/-) from normal averages, forecast is targeted for central Pennsylvania but should apply east of Rocky Mtns into MidAtlantic, most of New England south and west and a good chance into the south eastern states.
I'm not a pro, don't do this for money, so don't bet the farm on it, but I am sharing my own winter forecast work I do for "entertainment value", i.e., you can't sue me if I'm wrong. FWIW, my forecast record for the last 12 years is >80%, then again, I'm the only one keeping count, ggg.
Best of luck to all, Roebear |
