Here is how Java works. Java classes are cross platform.
You can written once and run everywhere. But Java Virtual
Machine is platform dependent. Java classes interact with
the Java Virtual Machine(JVM). JVM is like a mini operating
system.
If you see that you have to choose operating system for Java
appliation, It is because they bundle the java classes with
the JVM which are platform sensitive.

I went to some Java show recently, and tell you the truth,
I did not find many good Java applications. Seems to me that
most talented programmers are still reluctant to write in
Java.

I do find a few decent Java programs. One is Castnet from Marimba,
their interface is pretty cool. Another is IQSuite, which is a
stock analysis program. I think you can download from their web
site (www.iqc.com).
