I agree that in the end, the Amendment is smoke without fire, but pushing it brings damage.

If they gasped at that, and not Bush saying he'd never said that he wasn't worried about Osama, then maybe they are skewed in their priorities. Nothing bad was said about Ms. Cheney. Just a face, and one that she is happy with in her life, and has used in her work both privately and in work for the campaign. I think it is still the shock many have at the "L" or "G" word. It is not something to be so sensitive about. If Kerry had brought up something bad, rather than something good, as he did when he mentioned Bush's girls, that would be different.
