It is common and accepted for the United States and others to offer varied forms of assistance to allies. Uzbekistan, Yemen, Jordan and Oman, Armenia, Azerbaijan, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Yugoslavia received post 9/11 aid for their assistance in the war on terror.
My post addressed the Iraqi coalition. These countries are not part of the Iraqi coalition. They are vital allies in the war on terror, too vital to be pressured over Iraq, but perhaps they recognized that there were no terrorists in Iraq.
The Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, Tonga and Moldova were part of the coalition. These were some countries whose contributions were more political than practical and who were persuaded by financial incentives to join.
I for one would be curious to know which countries are unhappy with the deal they reached with the USA.
Spain, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Honduras have withdrawn from the Iraqi coalition. Thailand, Norway, New Zealand and Poland have announced plans to withdraw. |
