For once, I agree with your entire post. This has to do with supply and demand, and it is going to get worse before it gets A LOT better. As hybrids and other technologies begin to take off, this problem will self-correct. The Saudis and others have to make hay while the sun is shining. 30 years from now there will be an oil glut that will have severe consequences for the entire region. There is no reason we shouldn't be paying $3.00/gallon for gas, or more, IMO -- other than I have a car that burns a ton of it.
