Why are you so obssesed with these marginal religious cults? They really have very little to do with anything, aren't part of some vast conspiracy, and are the province of nutbag losers. As far as their correlation with political alignments, I think you can find religious nutbags on the right and the left, so there really is none. The really serious religious nutbags aren't political at all. Now, go tune in to Jimmy Swaggert and give him some money.
