I just agree that from a personal perspective Al Qaeda isn't as much of a threat as, say, the former Soviet Union.

Why? A Soviet nuke had as much probability of killing you as a terrorist nuke, probably less since the Soviets at least were motivated by self preservation. Soviet backed insurgencies engaged in strategic destabilization were a risk, and so is the threat of a growing Islamist popularity and militancy destabilizing the Middle East and the Caucacus (sp?).

I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing now because it's late and I'm tired. ;)
