The way I look at it is that 80% of Canada's exports go to the US. So, if the US is sick, or even slows down buying, Canada will be in a terminal condition. The dollar can't stay strong in such an environment.

Canada, much more than any other country, is dependant on US trade. The trade between Canada/US is greater than all of Europe/US, and surpasses that of Japan or China.

An old saying "If the US sneezes, Canada catches a cold".
