Iraq Story - Another Way Kerry Would Weaken the Military

I was talking with some some friends of our family yesterday whose son is serving in Iraq. He contacted them within the last few days and said mortar fire was being taken near his location. He said he was "ready to come home." Apparently, his reenlistment is coming up soon. He said if Bush is reelected, he plans to reenlist, but if Kerry wins, he's done.

Considering recent polls showing Bush at a 3-1 advantage over Kerry among military personnel, I suspect the sentiment this young man expressed is widespread.

I have little doubt that the election of Kerry will both hurt the morale of our troops and negatively affect reenlistment rates. In the debates, Kerry said his "plan" would increase the number of military personnel (without a draft). If what this young man expressed is any indication of attitudes among enlisted personnel, Kerry's going to have a tough time implementing that plan.
