Another idea for The Kerry Team (from the DailyKos weblog)...

<<...if the opportunity presents itself

what i'd really like to see is a reponse from kerry in which he says:

"the president has told you about fighting a war on terror. he's told you it will be a long fight. but he hasn't told you how, in the meantime, he will make america whole again.

"i think it's very important that we recognize that the war on terror is not just a battle fought with guns, tanks and bombs. the war on terror is also about finding our way back home to who we are as americans. it's about renewing out commitment to a way of life that embraces american values, that sees us as a people who care for one another, who understand that what makes our rights and freedoms so valuable is the respect for one another that underpins them.

"the war on terror is indeed about security. it's about our ports, our transportation system, our food and water supply. but it's also about our ability to create jobs, to provide adequate health care, to educate our children, to provide for a secure retirement.

"if we lose sight of our core values, we lose sight of why it's worth fighting against terrorists."

of course that's just a framework to be filled in by k/e. but i think it's a message of hope that is lacking in the bush campaign. we can remain fearful or we can reclaim our lives as americans. i'd like to see kerry go for the high road on this...>>
