There are plenty of dishonest rightwing extremists and even professional conmen who happen to be veterans. Ted Sampley for instance who heads the Vets Againust Kerry. McCain calls him a "fraud" preying on war widows, who does NOT represent vets and is one of the most despicable people he's ever had the misfortune of meeting. Sampley and many of these smearvets consider Kerry and McCain both "traitors" for talking to the enemy in helping to men the war wounds. These dishonest rightwing vets seem to believe that peacemakers caused the US to lose the war in Vietnam. That is a complete lie. Rather, it was the policy-makers from LBJ on who based the war on lies and escalated it into a huge disaster without a real plan or reason for being there.
