The U.S. tends to support a two-party system but
some people don't like it. In Washington state
people were upset this fall in the primary when they had to
declare a preference for one party and vote only
between candidates competing for the party's
position. For instance, if you declared you
were a Democrat you had to select a candidate
who was running as a Democrat for Governor.
You couldn't vote for a Republican.

A lot of people were upset that they couldn't cross
over and vote for a candidate in another party.
